Exceptional Republic Day at RBV
Republic Day 26th January 2019 was a lovely day, cool with a mist . Children of our school the Rotary Bangalore Vidyalaya were up and about, getting ready for performances at their school. The children had rehearsed for this day and put in a lot of effort to show they were the future of our country.
The program began with a Guard of Honor to the dignitaries on the dais performed by the school band. This was as good as the one performed by professionals at Rajpath.
Lighting of lamp by the dignitaries was followed by a prayer and the flag hoisting.
After this is was a cultural program depicting the history of our country.A number of plays and dances were performed by our children .This year the life of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Subhash Chandra Bose were depicted. An awesome sight. Then PP Rtn. Zarir Batha gave an inspiring speech to the students to study hard and bring laurels to the school. Prizes were given to the students who performed well in studies and sports.
After the vote of thanks the children were given sweets and biscuits and then disbursed.
As a new Rotarian, Rtn.Satish Bhat who took the time to attend said. "Truly a super experience. Felt a lot of effort has gone in there. It has created a huge social impact."
Here is a brief history of our RBV. Members of the Rotary Club of Bangalore had a vision for education way back in 1960’s. RCB purchased a piece of land in the then remote area of Nagadevanahalli about 20 kms from Bangalore. It is now a bustling residential and commercial area behind the Bangalore University campus. The land remained vacant for a long time and then a small building with 6 classrooms was constructed in 1986.
The Rotary International centennial project of RCB was the construction of a full fledged school building. Once the building came up,education took priority and admission to children of less privileged people began to take shape. A strong faculty was employed and a good infrastructure was put in place. Computer labs, good clean toilets, clean drinking water is being provided, making it a school of international standards.
The quality of teaching, low fees, a good playground enhanced the school’s reputation. Free uniforms, text and notebooks and a huge grant every year from ESSAE foundation keeps the school running. Free mid-day meals from Sri Sai trust completes the program. Motivational, vocational and health camps are conducted regularly. Teachers training and advanced educational kits are installed. Children from RTE are also admitted.
The Independence Day flag hoisting, Republic day, school day, graduation day ceremonies are programs worth watching to see the depth of talent of our children. Scholarships are given to needy students. Sports is encouraged for all students and they take part in inter school competitions to bring laurels to the school. Trophies for excellence in various avenues are presented to students to motivate them.
