The Heritage Primary School at Budikote is a ‘Happy School’, thanks to Rtn. B N Rajasekhar
Budikote is a village near Bangarpet in Kolar district, with a population of about 3000 comprising 600 families. Some ninety kilometres from Bengaluru, it is the birthplace of Hyder Ali and has a fort. The village boasts of a higher primary school, which being over a hundred years old is a heritage school. It attracts close to 500 children from about eight or nine villages in and around Budikote.
The family of our dear Rotarian B. N. Rajasekar hails from Budikote. He decided to do something substantial to transform this school into a Happy School. His funding of over Rs.5 lakh and the efforts of our Happy School committee has given the school a major renovated and refurbished look, and vastly improved facilities – fresh bright paint, repaired rooms, hand wash and toilets.
On Sunday,13th January the local MLA, staff members, happy children, grateful village elders, and many parents were present at the inauguration of the Happy school.
They warmly greeted the donor B N Rajasekhar and the Rotarians President Vivek Prabhu and Community Services Director Rtn. Deepak Nakra. It was a festive, colorful inauguration with the children presenting a lovely cultural program.
