BIS students volunteer to enhance English language skills at a government school
Apart from improving and upgrading school infrastructure and converting them into Happy Schools, we would like to have continued engagement with the children of our schools. A few months ago, we gave forty kids of Trivium Rotary School, Chikkaballarpur a ‘Day Out’ to Bangalore with a visit to the planetarium, have art and crafts fun games and a health and eye check-up.
We now have got six students of Grade 10 and 11 of the Bangalore International School (BIS) volunteering to spend 3 hours on eight Saturdays between September and November at this Rotary supported Happy School. During these hours they converse with children of class 5-7, play games using English and do English writing exercises – all in light playful and yet creative ways, giving a boost to the childrens’ self-confidence as they improve their English skills.
Here is acknowledging the commitment and efforts of the following students for their help to their less privileged fellow children: Indraneal Medhi, Amani Sheen Kaul, Ruda Maryam Ali, Kavya Gera, Niharika Prasad, Meghana Doddiah. Kudos to them.
