Ashvasan - Programme for elders

Ashvasan- An amazing event for our elders.

The annual Seminar of the Ashvasan Foundation was held at the Rotary House of Friendship on Saturday the 28th July. This Foundation was started by a Senior Past Rotarian, Late Smt. Lalitha Ubhaykar. Year on year the Foundation conducts this annual seminar for Senior Citizens along with the Rotary Club of Bangalore.This year the theme of the conference was “THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY”.The guests present at the event were Mr. Bhaskar Rao , Managing Director, Titan Company Limited, Swami Shri Ram Atmananda, RCB President Rtn. Vivek Prabhu and Smt. Malavika Ubhaykar-Bijur, the present Managing Trustee of the Ashvasan foundation and your truly.

While Mr. Bhaskar spoke about the need for the elderly to be proud of their status, he acknowledged the support and patronage of the elders to the brand Tanishq. He was so proud that his company provides free lunches to underprivileged senior citizens in slums. He was willing to extend further support in terms of projects with the elderly.

President Rtn. Vivek Prabhu, in his address reminisced the association of the Club with Smt. Lalitha Ubhaykar and appreciated the fact that her daughter Smt. Malavika was continuing the mission of making a difference to the lives of the elderly. He also expressed that the Rotary Club of Bangalore is keen on projects for the elderly and said that the Rotaractors also would be more involved in supporting the elderly and making lives meaningful for them.President Elect Rtn. Elizabeth Cherian spoke on intergenerational strategies for healthy ageing and encouraged the elders to start life anew and keep on rediscovering themselves. She mentioned that being elderly they have the wisdom to lead and guide and also stressed on the need to be engaged actively.

Needless to say it was a holistic, inspirational, productive and engaging seminar for the elderly by Ashvasan Foundation. The Rotary Club of Bangalore is proud of its association with the causes being supported by the foundation.
