OCT 1st is declared as International Day Of Older Persons. As tribute to elders, The community service team championed one more project for a worthy and needy cause – Care For The Aged.
Rotary club of Bangalore has taken up this project to bring in smiles on the faces of elderly men & women who are in search of peace and happiness in their lives during their sunset years.
Sai Jyothi Old Age Home is located in Sondekoppa Nelamangala taluk. Bangalore which is a non profit organization. This is a refuge for 40 elderly people, aged 65years and above, both men and women, few of them mentally and physically challenged, irrespective of caste, creed or religion who are in really need of home, care and concern.
Rotary club of Bangalore contributed a Maruthi Van for the transport of Residents to hospital and also to procure food grains and other needs.
To add more comfort to the inmates, Rotary Bangalore contributed woolen Blankets, Bed sheets, clothes for both men and women, kitchen utensils and light fittings.
Rtn.Manjunath, who spearheaded the project, thanked Mr Naveen Sarawgi, CEO of Bimal Auto Agency, Mr Kantharaju of R. K. Engineers for sponsoring the Maruthi Van & to Mr Praveen Singhvi Managing Director, Mulder India for his contribution of other essentials.
On Tuesday, 14th October the ceremonial handing over of the Maruthi Van and other essentials material like blankets took place at Sri Sai Jyothi Old Age Home, Sondekoppa, Nelamangala Taluk Bangalore.
President Rtn Ramkumar sheshu secretary Rtn Vivek Prabhu the community Services Director Rtn Suken Padmanabha co- chair Rtn Nagachandra, Ann Padmini, Rtn Shanthi Baliga, Rtn Suresh Patil and the sponsors were present to personally handover the van, blankets, utensils etc.
The ceremony started by offering prayers to Sri Sai Baba. With a lot of love and respect to the inmates, Rotarians personally handed over the blankets, clothes, utensils and grains. In simple words it was an emotional moment for each and everyone present there.
The event was followed by a visit to Lord Chanakeshava temple where all the Rotarians had Darshan of The Lord Chanakeshava followed by lunch, courtesy Rtn Nagachandra for the arrangements.
